A Stitch in Time

A social enterprise program in collaboration with Business Without Borders and Safe Futures Foundation

Your purchase of this tote bag goes towards the establishment of the 'A Stitch in Time' project which aims to support women through their journey of family violence. Women get together to sew items such as bags, tablecloths and cushions that they can sell to begin to generate an income. The aim of the project is to provide women with:

  • Skills Development;
  • Income;
  • Empowerment;
  • Confidence;
  • Independence;
  • Mentoring;
  • Website creation and marketing;
  • Support and community connections; and
  • Sustainability;
  • The inaugural workshop saw volunteers, participants and mentors cutting, sewing, painting logos, ironing and packaging shopping bags. The children who attended assisted with hand painting the logos. The 'Stitch in Time' project is part of our 'I Respect' campaign which promotes people of all ages respecting each other and creating a better world. The fabrics were a generous donation from Rotary.

    If you would like more information about the project or to volunteer at one of our monthly workshops or support the project please contact Ellen Matusko at Safe Futures or Dominique Elliot at

    "Thanks Tracy for your prompt support. The sweep of the house after the threat really helped to know we weren't being watched or listened to. I know the house is almost as safe as it can be." SIC Client
